Unity Trust Bank expands team

Birmingham head-quartered Unity Trust Bank has announced the appointment of four new relationship managers across its Midlands team, to support, develop and expand the bank’s customer portfolio in the region.

Unity’s network of experienced relationship managers is fundamental to the bank’s personal, customer-led service.

Experienced commercial bankers new recruits Amy McDermott, Gareth Eynon, David Robinson and Sukhie Gakhal, bring with them a wealth of knowledge across a broad range of sectors, including corporate, not-for-profit, education and Trade Unions. They will work alongside regional director Andrew Bird to support customers across the Midlands.

As previously announced, Unity Trust Bank recently strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Alexandra Rice as chief commercial officer and Joshua Meek as head of Impact and Sustainability.

Alexandra will be responsible for developing Unity’s commercial strategy, alongside managing Unity’s front office, customer support and marketing teams. Bringing over 20 years of banking experience, she’ll be using her depth of knowledge in the field to support the bank’s growth and continue Unity's strong tradition of relationship led banking.

Joshua joined Unity from Big Issue Invest where he supported SMEs to deliver more social and environmental outcomes in their communities. Joshua brings extensive experience in international development and social investment and will drive Unity’s aim to be a thought leader for quality impact management in commercial banking.

With offices in Birmingham, Manchester and London, Unity Trust Bank provides an ethical banking solution for businesses with a social conscience.

Deborah Hazell, CEO of Unity Trust Bank, said: “We’re delighted to have welcomed four new, highly experienced relationship managers to the growing Midlands team here at Unity, along with the recent senior appointments of Alex and Josh.

“As we welcome new customers across a range of sectors, we continue to invest in our team and strengthen our leadership and regional network to support customers in the Midlands and across the UK.”

Meanwhile, results have been released from the latest Financial Services Culture Board (FSCB) Employee Survey, the financial services' largest independent employee survey that provides firms with a measurable and trackable perception of its culture.

Over 65% of staff at Unity Trust Bank ‘strongly agree’ that they see fellow colleagues go the extra mile to meet the needs of customers, while 60% also ‘strongly agree’ that staff are encouraged to provide customers with information to help them make the right decisions.

Deborah added: “At Unity, our company culture is incredibly important to us. It’s hugely encouraging to see these independent results from the FSCB that reflect the ethos across our team to put customers and their communities first.”
