A 10,000-euro prize is up for grabs to an individual or SME working in the field of quantum computing.
Applications are invited from researchers, academics or SMEs for the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Hartree Centre Joseph Fourier Prize More.
STFC is running the compeition with multinational IT firm Atos, and the STFC regional centre is at University of Birmingham.

The webinar will include an introduction to the STFC Hartree Centre and Atos Joseph Fourier Prize, advice on how to apply, competition rules and a Q&A.
A spokesman said: “In order to stay at the forefront of innovation and remain competitive, public organisations and enterprises will have to understand how to effectively harness this emerging technology.
“Through this competition, Atos is supporting innovation in quantum applications including communications, computation, simulation, sensing and metrology that will lead to tangible industrial applications within our lifetime.
“The prize pays tribute to mathematician Joseph Fourier whose work in the 18th century largely contributed to the mathematical physical phenomena of heat flow.”
