Commercial building, project and sustainability consultancy Jones Hargreaves has opened a Birmingham office in response to demand for its services in the Midlands.
Associate partners Jack Birchall and Harry McDermott have over 18 years’ combined commercial property experience, and they have relocated from the firm’s London office to lead the new Birmingham location.
They will work with a range of investors, owners and occupiers across industrial, retail and office portfolios from Jones Hargreaves’ new office at Somerset House on Temple Street in the city centre.
Birchall has extensive experience in the commercial sector including dilapidations, tenant alterations and technical due diligence, having worked at Jones Hargreaves for three years.
McDermott is an experienced building surveyor across all commercial property sectors who primarily focuses on technical due diligence, dilapidations, planned preventative maintenance and contract administration instructions. Both joined from Hollis Global.
The new Midlands office is opening in direct response to client demand, with ongoing instructions in the region from clients including Indurent, Adapt Real Estate and Gilbanks, where Jones Hargreaves is advising on the £2m fit out of a new 20,000 sq ft serviced office space at Five St Phillips.
It follows a successful 2024 for the firm which saw turnover increase by 20% and its expert in-house team growing by 25% to a headcount of 40 across its Manchester, Leeds, London, Bristol, Glasgow and Cardiff offices.
Jack said: “It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to open our new Birmingham office and dive into the Midlands’ thriving commercial property sector. The city itself has seen a lot of growth in recent years and it’s exciting to be part of that. I was keen to relocate to Birmingham as it’s a great city, with so much to offer, and this was the perfect time for me both professionally and personally. This opportunity highlights the culture of the business and the trust in the team.”
Harry said: “Jack and I are very excited to be leading Jones Hargreaves’ new office in the UK’s second city. We have a strong existing client base in and around Birmingham and across the Midlands and we’re looking forward to building on that. I applaud Jones Hargreaves’ ethos of supporting the career aspirations of the team which has enabled me to progress my career and move back to the West Midlands, where I’m originally from, with the same company.”
Jones Hargreaves’ services include project management and building, MEP, sustainability and ESG consultancy. The firm has a dedicated ESG and sustainability team able to scrutinise potential acquisitions, improve the management of existing portfolios and advise on improving energy and carbon performance. Its clients include Columbia Threadneedle, ESR, Motcomb, Fidelity, Elite Partners Capital and Mileway.
Matt Williams, partner at Jones Hargreaves, added: “This is our seventh office opening and aligns with our business expansion strategy to meet ever-increasing client demand for our commercial building consultancy and ESG services across the UK, particularly in the Midlands."
