Life Sciences Week on the way

The West Midlands is set to take centre stage in the global life sciences sector with the launch of the first ever WM Life Sciences Week, running from September 15 to 19, 2025.

This pioneering conference will bring together leading scientists, healthcare innovators, business leaders, and policymakers to explore cutting-edge advancements and drive collaboration across the sector.

Backed by the Precision Health Technologies Accelerator (PHTA) as the headline sponsor, WM Life Sciences Week underscores the West Midlands' growing reputation as a hub for healthcare innovation and scientific excellence. The region, home to world-class universities, research institutions, and pioneering life sciences firms, will showcase its potential as a catalyst for new breakthrough medical discoveries.

Professor Gino Martini, CEO of PHTA, emphasised the significance of the event, saying: "The West Midlands has long been at the forefront of scientific and medical advancements. Our involvement in WM Life Sciences Week highlights our commitment to accelerating innovation, fostering collaboration, and ensuring that ground-breaking healthcare solutions reach those who need them most both locally and globally."

The vision for the conference was spearheaded by Professor Paul Cadman, the co-founder of WM Life Sciences Week, who stressed its potential impact on the region’s economy and global standing: "Our goal is to position the West Midlands as a leader in life sciences. This conference will not only highlight the region’s strengths in research and healthcare but also attract international investment, talent, and industry pioneers to collaborate on the future of medicine, biotechnology, and health innovation.”

Organised by a team of leading industry professionals, including Amy Deakin (managing director of One Thousand Trades Events the company behind WM Life Sciences Week), the event is set to be a must-attend for professionals across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, digital health, and academia. Deakin commented:

"WM Life Sciences Week is not just another industry event - it’s a movement. We’re bringing together some of the brightest minds in science, healthcare, and business to drive real, tangible change in life sciences. Whether you're a start-up looking to scale, a researcher with a breakthrough discovery, or an investor seeking the next big innovation, this is the place to be."

The conference will provide attendees with exclusive access to cutting-edge research, hands-on workshops, investor networking opportunities, and keynote speeches from some of the most influential figures in life sciences.

WM Life Sciences Week is expected to attract over 2,000 participants, host dozens of expert-led sessions, and generate millions in economic opportunities for the region.
