International law firm signs up city PR experts

Grayling PR Birmingham has been appointed to work with international and Birmingham head-quartered law firm Gowling WLG on a brand new communications campaign, and the firm has also welcomed a new starter, account executive Bella Martin-Williams.

Grayling’s work with Gowling WLG will encompass a digital-first thought leadership campaign, exploring the debate around the future of urban and semi-urban spaces in a post-pandemic and increasingly tech-enabled future. Using the viewpoints of influential experts from Gowling WLG and their partners, the campaign will explore how these spaces can and should change to ensure optimal outcomes from people, communities, business, and society.

Gowling WLG will benefit from Grayling’s expertise in professional services, while utilising the agency’s creative, strategic, design and insights hub Grayling Ignite, and access to the agency’s network of nine offices across the UK.

Becky Glover, corporate communications manager at Gowling WLG, said: “Our new campaign will explore some of the most pressing issues facing our clients across infrastructure, retail, transport, energy and beyond from future mobility to intergeneration housing; green streets to what suburban resurgence means for the Government's Levelling Up Agenda. The pandemic has reset the way we all think, and this campaign is designed to help Gowling WLG’s clients make sense of what follows.”

This new client win marks the start of an exciting year for Grayling Birmingham, despite the challenges faced by the pandemic. Grayling has already added a new face to the team and is delighted to bring on board Bella Martin-Williams as a permanent account executive hire, following a stint working with the team on a temporary basis before Christmas.

Bella’s role will see her support the wider team to deliver PR, social media and SEO activity across a breadth of Midlands clients including Gowling, M&S, HSBC, ITG, Intercity Technology and Coventry University Group.

Craig Ling, director and head of Grayling’s Southern Region, said: “It’s been a stellar start to 2021 for Grayling and I think it reflects the fact that businesses have realised that they need to pivot their communications approach to reflect the challenges of the global pandemic.

"That means we’re seeing greater appetite for campaigns which major on digital platforms; greater investment in creative assets which single out their content from their competitors; the development of comprehensive internal communications campaigns; and of course, reputation management and crisis communications as organisations still grapple with the far-reaching consequences of COVID-19.”

Based in the Assay Studios on Newhall Street, Grayling Birmingham has had a foothold in the Midlands region for over 40 years. Its expertise spans public relations, crisis communications, government relations, digital and social strategy, and media training. Grayling has nine UK offices, including London, Southampton, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Cardiff, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
