Energy group raises crucial funds

The Student Energy Group (TSEG) - a trusted, tech-led student utility provider - has raised £20,000 in 2024 to support local charities.
True to its mission of ‘simply doing the right thing’, TSEG has demonstrated how purpose-driven businesses can inspire lasting change within their communities. The funds raised are in support of key charities: SIFA Fireside, a Birmingham-based organisation dedicated to homelessness prevention and recovery, and The Way Wolverhampton Youth Zone - a hub for youth empowerment and personal development.
Beyond financial contributions, TSEG’s partnerships have been defined by active involvement, with employees dedicating their time and energy to volunteering and advocacy.
Since the beginning of its partnership in 2023, TSEG supports SIFA Fireside by covering the utility costs for its Digbeth headquarters. This practical support allows the charity to focus its resources on delivering life-changing services.
Beyond financial aid, TSEG employees have actively volunteered in SIFA’s kitchen, providing emergency support to some of the city’s most vulnerable residents. Amplifying SIFA’s campaigns through TSEG’s social media platforms has further boosted public awareness of their invaluable work.
Since May 2023, TSEG has partnered with The Way Wolverhampton Youth Zone - a one-of-a-kind centre that provides young people aged 8 to 18 (and up to 25 for those with additional needs) with opportunities to get creative, active, and social - for just 50p a visit.
In 2024, TSEG donated £6,000 to support The Way’s essential services, which include employability workshops, adventure sports and creative programs like dance and music. TSEG employees have also participated in youth events, forging connections that inspire and uplift both young people and their mentors.
“Supporting The Way has been an incredible experience for our team,” said Alex Back, co-founder and managing director of TSEG. “We’ve seen firsthand how investing in young people can change lives - not just theirs, but ours as well.”
TSEG’s efforts reflect a broader strategy that goes beyond utility services. By investing in community-driven partnerships, they not only address pressing social issues but also inspire their employees and customers to join the cause.
The £20,000 raised throughout this past year demonstrates what can be achieved when businesses embrace their social responsibilities with intention and purpose.
“We’re thrilled to have raised such an impressive figure, but more importantly, we’re proud to see the tangible impact these funds are making,” said Alex Back.
