Ex-Blues and Baggies striker and local philanthropist Geoff Horsfield was the special guest for the grand opening launch event of MKM Building Supplies' new state-of-the-art Birmingham North branch.
The UK’s largest independent builder’s merchant, celebrating its 84th new branch opening across the UK, invited the football legend to mark the branch officially opening its doors to the trade and general public.
To kick off the celebrations and highlight MKM’s commitment to the local community, the branch has teamed up with Geoff and pledged its support to The Geoff Horsfield Foundation – a charity that prides itself on providing quality, safe and secure housing accommodation for homeless and vulnerable adults in and around Birmingham.
Jason Hart, one of the branch directors at MKM Birmingham North, said: “As a local, independent business, being at the heart of the community is vitally important to us. That’s why we are delighted to celebrate the official opening of our new branch with the announcement of this partnership to support The Geoff Horsfield Foundation.
“Geoff’s a real local hero, not just from his time on the pitch, but the work that he and his foundation do around Birmingham is absolutely amazing and truly heartwarming. The foundation makes such a difference to the people’s lives they touch, so we are looking forward to supporting them and playing our part in making a difference in the local area too.”
Open to both the trade and public, MKM Birmingham North is located on a 1.45 acre site at the Minworth Trade Park in Sutton Coldfield.
Creating 19 new jobs in the area, the branch provides a one-stop-shop for all building products, including heavyside, heating and plumbing, landscaping, roofing, electrical, drainage and civils, insulation and plaster board, workwear and timber, sheet and joinery.
This extensive range of solutions is backed up with MKM’s commitment to providing a friendly, expert and first class service, from estimating services, brick matching and free same day or next day local deliveries.
The branch also boasts a kitchen, bathroom and flooring showroom which offers a range of traditional and contemporary solutions to suit all styles and tastes. MKM’s design consultant is also on-hand to help consumers every step of the way, including 3D visualisation and home surveys.
Heading up MKM Birmingham North with Jason Hart is Luke Donnelly. He said: “We are extremely excited to be opening our doors to the trade and public in Birmingham and showing them what MKM Building Supplies is all about.
“Whilst local people may not be that familiar with the MKM brand in this area, we are confident that they wouldn’t have experienced a merchant like us before. Ultimately, it’s about providing the right products, at the right price, when our customers need them, and doing this in a professional, friendly and welcoming way."
David Kilburn, founder of MKM Building Supplies Limited, said: “The business is growing at an incredible rate across the UK based on the quality of our service offering and the Birmingham North branch is another example of how we plan to take this to the next level.
“We are absolutely delighted to open our 84th site nationwide, but more importantly, it’s our first in the Birmingham area. I’d like to thank the team for all their hard work and commitment and wish them every success.”
