Global freight logistics specialist business Masterfreight Ltd have completed the first phase of works on premises in Oldbury which were supported by a £2.74million funding package from NatWest and the bank’s asset finance partner Lombard.
Masterfreight specialises in the import and export of cargo as well as offering specialist warehousing facilities.
Services provided include HM Customs clearance from major ports, transport to and from all seaports, airports and rail terminals, container unloading, warehouse storage, and export packing and global shipping through their extensive network by road, rail, air and sea.
They also offer next day pallet networks delivery services for mainland UK, Ireland and Europe via Fortec Distribution and Pall-Ex Group Shareholder Members.
The improvement works to AMK House aim to support Masterfreight’s green credentials through insulated cladding and improving roof height to aid in the fitting solar panels. This reflects the needs of new EPC legislation in maintaining and implementing a positive environmental impact. The works began over the summer and the new facility opened earlier this month. It will also bolster the business’ productivity and customer offering.
Family-run business Masterfreight has been trading for more than 20 years and employs more than 25 people with new roles expected to be created in the coming months.
As the UK’s biggest banks for small businesses, NatWest works collaboratively with customers to understand their needs and help them find solutions to support their businesses as they grow.
Kishore Balu, director of Masterfreight Ltd, runs the business alongside his wife Surinder and his daughter and son Alisha and Tony. He said: “The improvements we have made to AMK House support many of our long-term business goals around efficiency and climate.
“The NatWest team has been incredibly supportive of our plans and was able to help us with the funding to deliver on our ambitions for the site.”
David Humphreys, senior relationship manager at NatWest, said: “As the UK’s biggest bank for business, NatWest is proud to be supporting Masterfreight as they push forward with their business growth plans and climate efficiency strategy.
"Masterfreight continues to play an important role in the local economy as demonstrated by the creation of new jobs, and we look forward to working with Kishore and Masterfreight in the future.”
